Fixing HTTP:1.1 500 Internal Server Error creating a project

One of the primary causes of the HTTP/: 1.1 500 Internal Server Error is the absence of the ASPNET user account that should be added to your users when installing Visual Studio.

If this user account does not exist on your machine you can create it by running the following command from a Visual Studio Command Prompt.

aspnet_regiis.exe -i
