Adding MM .NET Windows Forms Controls to the VS Toolbox

MM .NET user interface controls offer many advantages over Microsoft's base UI classes, such as:

  • Intelligent, two-way data binding
  • Built-in security
  • Built-in multi-lingual capabilities
  • Controls that automatically disable when bound to empty data
  • Toolbar navigation of Grids and other list-type controls
  • Checkboxes that bind to null values
  • Labels that AutoSize by default

To add MM .NET Windows Forms controls to the Visual Studio Toolbox

  1. Right-click on the Toolbox (not the title bar, but anywhere below it) and select Add Tab from the shortcut menu

  2. Enter MM .NET Windows Controls (or something similar) as the tab name

  3. Right-click the new tab header (it should turn light blue), and select Choose Items... from the shortcut menu.

  4. This launches the Choose Toolbox Items dialog, with the .NET Framework Components tab selected.

  5. Click the Namespace column to sort all controls by namespace.

  6. Select the first item in the list with the namespace OakLeaf.MM.Main.Windows.Forms. Hold the Shift key down and click on the last item in the list with the same namespace. This highlights all MM .NET Windows Forms controls.

  7. Click the checkbox next to any one of the selected controls, and all MM .NET Windows Forms Controls will be selected.

  8. Click the OK button, and the MM .NET Windows Forms controls should be added to your new tab in the Visual Studio Toolbox.

Note: You will not see MM .NET user interface controls in the Toolbox until you have a Form open in the design surface
